Betfred, the popular sports betting giant, has announced that they have extended their sponsorship deal with the Cheltenham Gold Cup for a further period of three years – up to and including 2015 – owing to the success of the event that took place in 2012.
John Haddock, Managing Director for Betfred, revealed that they were keen to secure a further long term deal due to the tremendous success of the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup last year. Haddock added that it has been a great pleasure dealing with Peter McNeile, the Cheltenham team as well as the Jockey Club who made a major contribution in getting the agreement concluded in record time. Haddon also said that they are thrilled to be associated with the greatest steeplechase in the world for another three years and that they are eagerly looking forward to working with Cheltenham in order to make the race even bigger and better.
Paul Fisher, Group Managing Director for Jockey Club Racecourses, said that they considered the deal an important one for Cheltenham and British racing. Fisher added that the Cheltenham Gold Cup attracted people from all walks of life and has been part and parcel of British racing ever since 1924. Fisher also said that Jockey Club Racecourses was looking forward to building on its special appeal through its partnership with Betfred.
Peter McNeile, Director of Sponsorship for Cheltenham, said they were naturally thrilled to secure Betfred’s sponsorship of the Cheltenham Gold Cup for a further period of three years. McNeile added that Betfred’s support of the race as well as the great enthusiasm that they put into promoting it last season made them keen to extend their partnership with the betting giant.
